Stone lithography + Monotype
Spring 2009, Wellesley College ARTS 219 Introductory print methods: Lithography/Monotype
I vividly remember the strong smell of chemicals that hit my nose every time I entered the printmaking room. I spent hours and days in there laboring to perfectly smooth out and clean my limestone plate and find the perfect blend of ink for my prints. One of the most unique and exciting qualities of traditional printmaking is that no single print from a plate is identical to another. Leveraging this fact, I produced my work in series that originated from the same plate but displayed subtle to wide-ranging differences in layers, color, and arrangement.
